Sokhna–Alexandria Logistic Corridor (Rail)

Objective

Enable high-capacity freight, modal shift from road to rail.

Description

Main east-west rail, new and existing lines, connects ports and logistics hubs. The 6th October City – Alexandria corridor works, valued at €550m with a €240m share for Alstom, will be delivered across three implementation lots. The corridor will be modernised with ETCS Level 1, upgraded telecommunications, reinforced power supply and comprehensive civil and track rehabilitation. These upgrades should reduce travel times by nearly 80 min.
