Objective

The primary objective of the zone is to modernize Egypt's industrial sector by relocating polluting, legacy factories from historic Cairo into a sustainable, highly competitive export hub. By providing manufacturing facilities with shared environmental infrastructure and streamlined supply chains, the project aims to drastically reduce the environmental footprint of heavy manufacturing while attracting foreign direct investment. Ultimately, the zone seeks to transition traditional artisan industries into high-value, standardized global exports, positioning Egypt as a central manufacturing gateway between Africa, Europe, and the Middle East.

Description

The Robeiki Industrial Zone (also known as Robbiki) is a specialized national megaproject located roughly 54 kilometers from downtown Cairo, Egypt, designed as the premier hub for sustainable industrial growth in the Middle East. Spanning over 500 acres, it serves as an advanced eco-industrial cluster that integrates cutting-edge wastewater treatment infrastructure to process industrial runoff and irrigate surrounding green zones. While initially developed as a world-class center for leather tanning and manufacturing, the zone has expanded into a diversified industrial hub that now hosts massive textile factories and high-tech automotive components manufacturing.
