The primary objective of this line within the broader El Sokhna–Alexandria Logistics Corridor is to act as a high-capacity inland bypass that seamlessly links the Red Sea and Mediterranean maritime trade routes. By connecting the 10th of Ramadan Dry Port to key regional junctions, the rail line enables freight arriving at the Port of Ain Sokhna to be rapidly sorted and transported North-West toward Alexandria without entering the heavily congested Cairo railway hub. This integration accelerates container transit times across the corridor, expands Egypt's domestic land-bridge capacity, and establishes a highly efficient, lower-emission logistical spine for international supply chains.

Description

The Robeiki – 10th of Ramadan – Belbeis rail line is a 63.5-kilometre strategic railway project in Egypt designed to connect major industrial zones and the 10th of Ramadan Dry Port directly to the national rail network. Funded through a €215 million partnership between the Egyptian government, the French Development Agency (AFD), and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), the project features a 7-station layout linking the existing Suez and Port Said lines. A consortium led by Alstom is delivering the line's advanced signalling and digital infrastructure, which will support both heavy freight operations and regional commuter transit.
