This railway aims to link the Mediterranean to the Red sea going through the Sinai. It is also a railway that will link to new dry ports to be developed all across the Sinai, accelerating the development of the region for the first time since the 1967 war. This trainline returns train service to Sinai after a 57-year hiatus.

Description

500-km El-Ferdan/East Port Said/Bir El-Abd/Arish/Taba railway line. This is a project implemented by the state and the 100km Al-Fardon/Bir El-Abd section has been completed and now operational. "Current efforts are focused on the 353-km section extending from Bir El-Abd through Arish to Taba. This includes a 12-km link to the Port of Arish and a branch line to East Port Said to support the NIRC rolling stock factory and international shipping operations."
