Coral Bridge Subsea Cable

Objective

"The Coral Bridge cable system is the first submarine cable system landed at the Taba cable landing station, the first submarine system landed in Sinai, part of a wider strategy to diversify Egypt’s international infrastructure by building new cable landing stations and terrestrial routes linking the Red Sea and the Mediterranean. In Jordan, the Coral Bridge cable system lands in Aqaba, Jordan, at the Global Aqaba Digital City Data Center. The Coral Bridge cable system plays an important role in fulfilling regional and international demands by connecting two significant locations in the Middle East and aggregating the traffic flow being hosted in a fully neutral facility–the Aqaba Digital Hub. The Coral Bridge cable system was ready for service on 21 August 2025."

Description

"The Coral Bridge cable system is a 15km repeaterless and high-fiber count submarine cable system crossing the Gulf of Aqaba, creating a point-to-point well-established infrastructure between Taba on the Egyptian side and Aqaba on the Jordanian side. The Coral Bridge cable system is jointly built by Telecom Egypt and NaiTel, a licensed telecommunications service provider in Jordan, and the telecom arm of Aqaba Digital Hub. In January 2024, Telecom Egypt and NaiTel signed a Joint Build Agreement to construct Coral Bridge cable system. The Coral Bridge cable system features: High capacity: more than 1 Petabit, ⁠High fiber count: 48 fiber pairs, Lowest latency: 15 km across the Gulf of Aqaba."

History

It is a short point to point cable that feeds into the Aqaba Digital Hub data centre, and Egypt constructed a new landing station at Taba. The capacity is 48fiber cables with 1-Petabit capacity.
