Objective

The primary objective of the logistics area is to transform Alexandria Port into a premier global value-added trade hub while modernising Egypt's supply chain capabilities. To achieve this, the project aims to drastically alleviate primary port congestion and reduce vessel turnaround times by shifting heavy storage, container sorting, and customs clearance away from the crowded berths. Furthermore, the zone is designed to stimulate economic growth by hosting dedicated light manufacturing, assembly, and packaging industries. This allows raw materials to be processed into finished goods directly adjacent to major shipping lanes, maximizing the efficiency of multimodal rail, river, and highway freight networks.

Description

The Alexandria Integrated Logistics Area is a marquee 1.1-square-kilometre infrastructure project developed through a strategic partnership between Abu Dhabi's AD Ports Group (via its industrial arm, KEZAD Group) and Egypt's Holding Company for Maritime and Land Transportation.
