The primary objective of the project is to enhance Egypt's global trade competitiveness and transform the nation into a premier regional logistics hub by modernising inland cargo distribution. By establishing direct, rail-connected links between key manufacturing zones and major sea ports, the facility aims to drastically lower transit times, reduce supply chain logistics costs, and alleviate congestion at maritime borders. Additionally, the development seeks to foster local industrial growth, stimulate foreign direct investment, and create thousands of direct and indirect jobs, aligning with Egypt's Sustainable Development Strategy (Vision 2030).
Description
The 10th of Ramadan Dry Port and Logistics Center is a flagship 250-acre inland infrastructure project in Egypt being developed by MEDLOG (the logistics arm of MSC Group) under a 30-year public-private partnership with the General Authority for Land and Dry Ports (GALDP). Located within one of Egypt's largest manufacturing hubs, the facility features a 130-acre dry port and a 120-acre logistics park designed to handle up to 500,000 TEUs annually upon its scheduled launch in 2027. By combining custom clearance, container freight stations, and deep multimodal connectivity via the Robiki–10th of Ramadan–Belbeis railway, the port forms a vital cog in the broader Sokhna–Alexandria logistics corridor, linking the Red Sea and the Mediterranean.
History
The project's overall development, financing, and long-term operations are managed by MEDLOG (an MSC subsidary) under its public-private partnership with the Egyptian government. Under the 30-year public-private partnership agreement, MEDLOG is entirely financing the facility's construction and operation through its domestic Egyptian subsidiary. In return, the Egyptian government receives a fixed annual fee of $1 million plus 10% of the port's annual cargo handling revenues
