Objective
The primary objective of the industrial cluster at Kafr El Zayat is to secure regional agricultural sustainability and maximize crop yields by mass-producing specialized, high-grade agrochemicals and fertilizers. By manufacturing insecticides, herbicides, and vital soil compounds locally, the industrial area aims to decrease Egypt's reliance on foreign chemical imports while simultaneously driving national export revenue across regional Middle Eastern and African markets. Furthermore, modern efforts within the zone are focused on integrating internationally certified laboratory testing (such as ISO standards) to ensure public health safety and transitioning legacy manufacturing processes into eco-friendlier, sustainable practices that safeguard the surrounding Nile Delta ecosystem. Description
The Kafr El Zayat Industrial Area, located within the Gharbia Governorate along the Rosetta branch of the Nile River Delta, is one of Egypt’s foundational manufacturing hubs dating back to the mid-20th century. Positioned strategically near major transit networks between Tanta and Damanhour, the area is primarily renowned for its heavy concentration of chemical, agrochemical, and textile production plants. Major regional entities, such as the Kafr El Zayat Pesticides and Chemicals Company (KZ) and the Egyptian Financial and Industrial Company (EFIC), operate massive complexes here that supply critical agricultural inputs like fertilizers and crop-protection treatments across Africa and the Middle East. Due to its older infrastructure and proximity to the Nile Delta's agricultural land, the area is also a frequent subject of environmental monitoring to manage industrial runoff and soil pollution.
